Congratulations to two of our Changeworks team - Jo King and Nicola Burdan - who managed to complete the 30km Sunshine Coast ‘Coastrek’  on Friday, in support of the Fred Hollows Foundation.  Understandably, walking along the beach in Noosa may not sound that tough, however, there’s a lot more involved than you think!  Leading up to the gig is a rigorous 12-week fitness program, involving teams of four preparing in Sydney, Melbourne and Sunshine Coast.    

Coastrek has inspired nearly 25,000 people (mostly women) to get off the couch and into hiking – and raised $20 million to help transform lives.

A little goes a long way to making a real difference to people’s lives.  For instance, the money raised from Jo and Nic’s team (The Champagne Cartel) is enough to:

• train a basic eye Doctor in Vietnam;

• buy a cataract surgical kit and restore sight to 36 people; or

• pay for an optometrist to conduct eye screening for 2 months in Nepal and restore sight to six people.
